The game is extremely laggy, as in the blocks keep on respawning after breaking them (i am playing on survival), and the worlds take extremely long to load and when it does , it just stands in void for 5 mins* , not to mention the client is extremely unstable, keeps crashing occasionally and every time i try to save and quit.
I dont understand why this is suddenly happening, because I use to play minecraft on the same pc 2 years ago and everything was fine , just recently I decided start playing again and suddenly all this happens .. feels like i wasted 26$ on something i cannot event play anymore ..
And if you think its my pc's graphic card problem, it may not be the best , but i can play games like dota 2 , bethesda games, etc , just fine on medium-high . and i even tried changing all of minecraft's settings to low but no avail.. and my graphic card's driver is also up to date..
Am I missing some sort of update or something? i updated my minecraft to the latest version.. or what could possibly be causing this horrible lag
You didn't say if you fresh installed or just updated, also check to make sure you didn't mess with your java arguments, also make sure your java is updated and if possible ( don't know your machine) get 64bit java.
1.8 is the update that broke Minecraft for many people, due to a major increase in system requirements; the old recommended system requirements prior to 1.8, particularly the GPU, don't even meet the minimum requirements for 1.8, due to code rewrites that were supposed to make the game run better, but only if your computer has certain hardware, supposedly older computers were to benefit more (as the actual graphics quality, etc didn't actually improve, unless you count Super Secret settings (shaders) or mipmapping, but those are entirely optional, just as you don't have to play on 32 chunk render distance).
If you don't mind not having all the current features you can downgrade with the launcher; click on "edit profile" and you can select a version to use, even old (alpha/beta) versions if you check the boxes to enable them. I'd suggest trying 1.7.10 and 1.6.4; note that if you downgrade to 1.7.10 first you must make sure that the render distance is no more than 16 or the game will crash (1.6.4 used a different system, which just resets to Far if an invalid value is read in from the options.txt file).

well apparently downgrading works, i downgraded to 1.7.10 and it doesnt lag.. .. but then i can only play the out-dated version.. which i think sucks...
but then again thanks anyway.. at least i can play now

oh actually , i tried turning down the render distance settings on the latest version to 16 chunks, same as the 1.7.10 version, and it doesn't lag anymore ! .. so i guess its the render distance that breaks the game for me.. so thanks again everyone for the help

If Your playing 1.8+ reduce render distance to 10 or have it at a high level b4 joining a map so the chunks can load
It Would Help If you posted your specs since minecraft got laggier after 2 years just so you know
Run virus scans turn down all the settings is all i can say for now

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
ya, i just fresh installed / re-downloaded the game . i did update my java before playing , 64 bit

i tried lowering all my minecraft settings to minimum but it still lags almost the same with all max settings , no difference at all.
my specs are 4.00 gb ram , intel core i5 -3230m cpu 2 2.6 ghz , nvdia gt 630m
