Hi, I've been playing Minecraft for a while, but recently i had to reset my computer back to default windows, and then download the game again. But this time when i downloaded it i seem to have had a sex change. I've now got shoulder length ginger colored hair. yep, I'm pretty sure I'm a girl. the last time i played im pretty sure I was a guy with short brown hair (Steve or something, right?).... Not that there is anything wrong with being a girl, but How did this happen? and can i become a man again without interfering with my in- game progress?
You can become Steve again by doing a few things. First go to Minecraft.net and log in, then go click profile in the top of the page. Then there should be a change your skin with 2 options, either the Steve or Alex skin. If you want to use the Steve skin then click 'my skin fits the Steve player model'. After you did that your in game character will be steve again. Hope I helped!

I'm sorry, I really thought you had gotten me back to being Steve, and so i went into minecraft.net. logged in. hit my profile. but i was already marked as Steve! I thought well "that's odd", so i hit the Download Template just to make sure, but it didn't work; all i got was some white page that did nothing. And of course i remained Alex in game. so then i tried changing to Alex, (you know, to see if doing it in reverse would work) and still the same thing happened. So then i tried resetting to the default skin, but no, that didnt work either - I'M STILL ALEX!!!! I'm forever destined to be a chick..... I must be doing something wrong but i just cant see what it could be.....
best thing is to download a steve skin from another website which will go onto minecraft.net. thats all i can really think of unless you just get another skin....

No one says gee wiz anymore. It's one download and one upload. Quit being lazy. If you want to change your skin, then this is what you must do. Simple.
Well, i don't know what trolling is, so I'm gonna find it hard to do it. And, just so you know, i for one still say G-wiz, and will continue to do so until i see fit to stop. But thanks for your judgmental concerns. Don't think you should be disrespectful to other peoples choice of terminology.
However, on a more pleasant note; your advice did work. I'm a newbie with computers, but I looked up how to download Steve's skin through google and pretty much followed the prompts. I now have Steve's skin. It was the long way around what should have been a simple task through Minecraft.net, but it worked none the less. So thank you very much for your assistance.

Sex and Gender actually mean the same thing. Even children are aware of this wording phenomenon. You read the thread, didn't you? Doctors and scientists use the "S" word as well, it's ok, REALLY. In any case my desire to "quickly" find an answer to my question worked, and that was the point. Problem solved. Next time i will try and make a special effort to keep peoples more unique sensibilities in mind.

Yes, due to the fact that the human brain will assign a gender based on appearance. Alex has obvious female features, thus a she. Steve has obvious male features, thus a he.
Same applies to basically everything. Pink is girl, blue is boy. Monster trucks are for men, pink convertibles are for women, etc, etc.

Download a steve skin and upload it. If that doesn't work, contact Mojang support, as it is out of our hands at that point.
Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
