I'm having a rather frustrating time building an iron farm legitimately in my survival world. About a week ago (or less) I had 4 farmer type villagers. I had taken 3 out of my villager breeding system (it's 22 doors with wood on the inside to prevent them from messing with the doors). It has a ceiling and a pit to catch/kill the zombies.
I made certain that there was still 1 farmer in the system. I then logged out. When I logged back in and looked around at why my system wasn't working, I found that my farmer had vanished (the other villagers were still there).
I then looked at where I had left my other 3 villagers (I had put them in minecarts, railed them off to one side, then blocked in the area (using dirt, glass, and jack o lanterns) and completely sealed them off so nothing could get to them. They were gone too.
ALL of my other villagers are still exactly where they're supposed to be. I even spawned a farmer with a spawn egg (I have cheats enabled for when random stuff like this happens) and put him back in the villager breeding chamber). I leave for an hour or so to let him do his thing and HE vanishes.
Why are my farmers vanishing and why just farmers? Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you still having this problem? I've noticed lately that farmers seem to be scarce in the villages I'm finding. I put one block high walls around a few villagers with low ceilings to keep them in place and they have all stayed including the farmer but it took me over 80 tries to spawn him from and egg. i got multiple fishermen, shepherds and fletchers as well as other types of villagers. I don't know if the spawning issue is related but the scarcity of villagers could be from them disappearing before I ever see them.
