Sort of new to this so please be kind. Started using MultiMC last month in order to play different versions of Minecraft with mods for each respective version. All was working well until I started getting crash reports. I had versions 1.7.10 with 6 mods, 1.7.2 with about 8 mods, 1.8.3 with no mods but the map of Wayward Wonders. I can't tell if this is a Java issue, (Head Dump Path) an issue with needing more Ram alloted (tried to push change it to more in settings but nothing happened), or something with the "initialization of VM" (no clue). Here is the crash report I get when trying to launch the game from any of these versions using MultiMC.
Thank you, I certainly didn't think it was too much RAM. When I look into the settings, I see "Minimum memory allocation 512, Max 1024, Perm Gen 64. When I auto detect Java, it shows Version 1.8.0-40 Arc 32 Path Java. What do I need to change these to (something lower?) to fix the problem?
Also, I downloaded the newest version of Java and picked 64 so I don't get why it is showing the 32 version.
My son has an older computer and his is working well with MultiMC and he has the same min and max figures but an older version of Java.
OK, I changed it back to 1024 and got the game to launch but then it crashed upon loading terrain. I just posted a new topic about that with the crash report in there for ya in a spoiler I know you get tired of reminding people to do that.
32 bit Java has a limit of how much RAM it can use. It's around 1.5GB and theoretically some Linux distros may be able to use more. Theoretically, I never saw anyone get more then 1.2 GB out of it.
Linux Arch? I don't think it's possible to use 32bit Java with 64bit Linux, so you most likely have 32bit Linux installed. If you can't install 64bit Linux (depends on your CPU) ... no more RAM for you. Definitely not 2GB.
On the other hand, assuming what I heard about Linux 32 bit Java holds, that their theoretical limit is 3GB.
The other reason for this error is that you do not have 2GB of free RAM for Java to use.
I don't have Linux, just Windows 8.1 and its a laptop. If I have a 64 bit do I need the 64 bit Java? I think you said it was a 32 bit Java. If I take Java off and download the newest one that is 64 will that help or am I going to mess everything up? Scared to goof up my computer. I hope I am understanding you correctly because this is a bit over my head.
I searched for Legacy Java Fixer and came to a thread about the issue with Java 8 and earlier versions of Forge. They suggested a Core Mod Manager patch for 1.7.2 I added it to my MultiMC instance for 1.7.2 and it still crashed. Thinking of going to an earlier version of Java if this is going to be such an issue. Here is the crash report.

If there is an easier way to organize my mods and versions, I am willing to try that also. Hoping someone out there can help. Thanks.

I uninstalled Java 32 and got 64. I ran MultiMC and 2 of the 3 instances worked. The one that didn't work is 1.7.2. Here is the crash report...

What is happening now? I was so excited that things were working again.

I found the right fixer mod and everything works now. Thank you for your help! Happy to be able to play again.
