When I'm playing, every now and then, it will crash with an error saying...
"The NVIDIA OpenGL driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue.
The application must close.
Error code: 8
Would you like to visit <nvidia site link> for help?"
This happens in default un-modded MC, but it happens way more often when using shaders, or even sometimes Optifine.
But something about this confuses me, I disabled OpenGL in the old version of MC and it was removed in 1.8 or 1.7 or something. (I'm using 1.8.4).
So why am I getting this error if I shouldn't even be using OpenGL?
PC Specs if it matters:
i5 4570 @ 3.6GHz
2x EVGA GTX 760 4gb SLI
12gb 1.333GHz RAM (8gb allocated to Minecraft)
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming
WD Blue 500gb HDD + WD Blue 1 tb
i would start with making sure your video drivers are up to date. use http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience if you dont know how to update them yourself. also i wouldent recomend allocating more than 4gigs of ram its kinda that magic number unless your using a 128x texture pack and have 200 mods each with 128x textures you wont need more than 4 gigs of ram.
im using the newest nvidia drivers and i have some high res resource packs so thats why i have so much ram allocated to mc
EDIT: i tried only using 4gb and it still crashes
