I am having a big and very resource-expensive problem, (like losing 2 NAMED horses with Diamond Horse Armor kind of expensive!) Need help!
Game Setup: Vanilla 1.8.3 version of Minecraft except for Optifine mod (most recent version for it.) No Other Mods!
Context before finding problem #1: I was RIDING my horse when my computer started getting bogged-down and started having a hard time keeping up with the chunk loading (expanding maps to newly-explored areas.) My horse kept stopping and not moving forward, so I would hop-off, hop back on and was then able to keep going (did that 5-or-so times.)
PROBLEM #1: Then the horse froze again just like above, so I "Tried" to hop-off, but could not (this time I froze too.) I waited a while, ... nothing. I thought, "If I save and close the map, I'll refresh my computer memory and be fine!" Normally, yes, but not this time. When I reloaded the map, I WAS in the most-recent spot, but the horse was gone. Why wasn't I still riding the horse? Because it recorded up to the point of me clicking Shift to jump off, but failed to record the frozen horse I was jumping off of (which was named, remember).
Context before finding problem #2: What happened to horse #2 from the beginning then you ask? Well, in a vain effort to find horse #1 again (densely forested and highly mountainous biome), stupid me tried teleporting the horse back to me using "/tp @e[type=Horse,r=150] games1004". The radius of 150 was because i was in a large biome without horses, so I wanted to be sure I had enough area. Unknown to me, something about the syntax above (or whatever typo I might have made) resulted in both the 150 radius being ignored and the Type focusing on horses being ignored. You probably guessed it, EVERY rendered entity swarmed to me! (Including minecarts from an unknown abandoned mineshaft.) Every entity including all my other named horses, 2 jeb_ sheep, and 2 tamed wolves from my birch farmhouse more than 500 blocks away!
Problem #2: Seeing as how I royally messed-up and how every named creature had been included in the teleport, I figured I'd cut my losses and abandon the syntax between "/tp @e" and my player name, since whatever I did had the same result. So I just kept doing "/tp @e games1004" every couple chunks to keep the mob close to me. The problem is, somewhere along the line horse #2 (again with diamond horse armor) despawned.
So, now I'm without my 2 fastest horses and 2 diamond horse armor items all from one frustrating computer goof. Any help would be much appreciated.
10-Minutes Later. ... P.S. Another notable change: at some point my character skin reset to the default Steve skin, which hints to me that something crashed, reset, or corrupted the Minecraft files and Minecraft was reset or otherwise reloaded to fix the error. It must have also occurred right when I clicked "Save and Close" on a partially frozen game otherwise it would have saved properly and this issue would never have happened.
