Today is crashing Minecraft crash day for me, apparently. So I downloaded a mod called ChocoCraft (http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/2269183-clienthaxs-chococraft-happiness-distilled-into) for 1.7.10 and, when I loaded the game up, the game crashed. It's definitely not an issue with memory, so I removed every mod except ChocoCraft and the same thing happened. So at least I know it's not compatibility issues.

It worked.
Silly me, such a newbie. Downloading was difficult though, Avast! blocked three viruses due to those ad shortening websites. Thanks!
