Hello, I have had this issue since I got my new gaming PC.. It has 2 graphics cards, a Radeon R7 which is integrated. Then R9 255 which is dedicated. Minecraft will not use the r9 no matter what I do. I tied looking at settings in the AMD settings. I even disabled the r7 on device manager and Minecraft STILL USED IT. I have no idea what to do please help me!
I don't know about AMD, but Nvidia allows you to easily set which process runs on which GPU. Try fiddling around in the Catalyst Control Center for such an option.
Can you please list your full computer specs? If you have integrated graphics on an A-series APU, it'd be nice to know what type.
MC doesn't use any GPU in particular. It uses your video driver and your video driver decides which GPU to use.
You have to assign the particular java executable that is being used (see your launcher profile JVM argument) to run on the discrete GPU.
You also may have a power management configuration issue. Some computers force the low power GPU to be used when on battery for example.
I have a Desktop, so no low battery, not to mention, I completely disabled it in the BIOS and it still ran the game on it. What can I change in the JVM argument exactly? I know I could change ram but the graphics card I use as well?
Silly question, but have you updated and installed all graphic drivers? is your gpu plugged in correctly (in the PCI slot correctly, has any power connections you need to the power supply, ect.) How exactly did you disable the gpu in BIOS?

Yes, all is up to date and correct. I turned off integrated gpu's in the BIOS
How did you turn it off? the default setting on most motherboards is off. How do you know that Minecraft is being run using integrated graphics? (I assume using f3 ingame, but just making sure)

Ok listen, I am not ignorant when it comes to computers, most of the time I have no issues. I have done more then you think to get this to work and all the basic things you are saying I have tried.
Um... your not answering my question. I'm just trying to help you with this.

You cannot do ANYTHING to minecraft to change the video card it uses. It has no control over that as I said in my original post.
The executable line will say which Java is being used. You must associate that particular executable with your high performance GPU in the Catalyst configuration settings.

if you go to hardware manager and select your display drivers and devices you should see what its using turn off your integrated completely just kill it. make it is not using it at all and only use your gpu drivers. uninstall all old ones, reinstall and update everything. pretty much what youre doing is telling your computer your integrated does not exist and to only use your gpu you have installed on board. just try to disable you integrated graphics that should work and its simple just so those drivers will stop working

Have you tried uninstalling the integrated driver all together?

Curse PremiumI did not really want top do that due to the fact that if it does not work I would be screwed :/
Have you tried to see if the graphics cards were compatible?

In-between the blue button and the red arrow, there's a button called "Application Settings". Can you do anything from there?
Have you checked Windows power management?
