Howdy. I don't know if I posted this in the right place, I'm kinda new here...
Anywho, my problem is simple, well at least I think it is... When I click play on the Minecraft launcher, the launcher goes away, and it tries to load, then stops. For no reason. Nothing happens after that.
Click play, launcher goes away, then nothing. Zilch. Nadda.

I've had this same error myself with different programs. A few things I can suggest are:
-Restarting your computer or shutting it down, if you haven't already.
-Going into Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del) and ending the Minecraft/Java task.
-Reinstalling Minecraft
-If all else fails, search around some tech forums for an idea on this. This sort of thing doesn't just occur with Minecraft, as I've had this problem myself with different programs (Such as Google Chrome, my choice browser).
I'm not a very tech savvy person, but these are normally things I do in this instance. I also recommend scanning for a virus on your computer with your antivirus software.
3. Find any virus or other unkown file in '.minecraft' file where is can found when you in Start write '%appdata%' and click file with name 'Roaming' and where is will be '.minecraft' file.
If nothing from here helped, try to find info about your computer and find anything that is Minecraft not supports in your computer.
It's a java problem. Try using a different version of java. I remember having this problem on java 7, but I don't really remember much. Open the launcher, click "Edit Profile", and try to change the executable to the java path on C:\ Program Files. If there is no java there, then get 64-bit java. No need to reinstall MC.
My specs:
Intel i7-4870HQ 2.5GHZ
Nvidia GT 750m with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM
16 GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM
2880x1800 15.4" display with 220PPI
Well through these specs you can easily guess my computer: 15" Retina Macbook Pro Mid 2014 with Dedicated GPU
I did a combination of everyone's ideas, so even I do not know the exact reason why it was putting up a fight, though I do know it works now. Luckily I did not have to re-install it. What I did was mess around with the java executable pathway, as well as I tried switching to a different version, and then back to the version I was using before. I also set the launcher visibility to stay open, however, it never actually did stay open, yet it works, so I'm just really happy now.
Thank you everyone once again, and as promised, free bacon for all of you. Happy crafting.

So no one had any idea to why this is happening?
I tried creating a new profile, but that didn't work...
Should I delete all my Minecraft stuff (except for saves) and re-download it? Or maybe buy a new account?
That's kind of a last resort that I hope to avoid, but I don't know what to do...

Try uninstalling java completely and then reinstalling the most up-to-date version of it.
