Hello, me and my brother have been trying to get on a LAN server for more than 2 years. When he got his new computer, I saw it as an opportunity to try to fix the problem. A couple of days ago, I fixed the problem by allowing Minecraft in his computers firewall. We were having lots of fun until I realized, that he couldn't connect to my computer. I started frantically searching the internet for answers, but no luck. I can connect to all of my other friends servers, even one that lives in Europe. I then started noticing that maybe my security software (McAfee) is the cause of the problem. After looking at some threads and video's, still no luck. I would appreciate if someone would help me.
Yes I have tried disabling the firewall, but it still does not work
Yes I have tried it, and still no luck
this was a thing awhile back the LAN is tricky. if you have an actual server it should work just connect to with a lan adress or if you router doesnt care about reverse NAT then just use the ip address of the server. anyways, its something that just happens you can see his computer and connect to it but he cant see yours or connect to it. it would be an issue with your computer being discoverable of it could be a homegroup issue. or it could be that someone is on windows 7 and someone is on 8 or mac and pc have issues. maybe the router has a thing to where one device at a time can be seen and another cant weve tried all that and everything nothing seems to work with LAN. some computers just happen to do that and there isnt much you can do about it. the best thing ive found for something like that to work is to just copy over worlds from one computer to the next and go from there. looks like if youre playing LAN only then your friend is going to be the one with the worlds on his computer. hosting a server is not really better because someone will always have the world and someone will no have the world unless its a dedicated server then youre both good to go.
Hey thanks, I really appreciate the help. I will do what you say, and i've tried lots of things. But like you said, there is nothing we can do. Thanks again, and i appreciate your help

Did you try disabling your firewall on McAfee? Or try disabling Windows Firewall.
