This may be a stupid question, but I started using mods way back when with modloader and didn't pick it back up until last year with forge. Now, I'm sure it's either Minecraft or Forge that handles the block ids for each mod I install, but since my worlds don't get corrupted every time I delete certain mods and add new ones, I'm wondering if the block ids are every changed after they are assigned.
My main concern with this I have changed my mods around a lot, and recently things are getting a little weird. For example, when I place certain Chisel 2 marble staircases, they turn into different designs than the ones I had originally created, which I'm wondering if it's an odd block id error. This is just a theory of mine, I'm definitely not sure at all of what's happening.
So, if it gets buggier the more blocks that are created (with all the ghost ids of the old mods taking up space), the question is this: Should I do a fresh install so that these weird bugs stop?
Ps: Sorry about the misleading topic question. My thoughts sort of developed as I typed this out.
Alright cool. I was just wondering if I had like a few thousand ghost ids or something because certain items that used to have textures are now pink and black squared textures.
This may not be specific to your problem, but the chisel stair design is probably an id conflict, or maybe not, but an easy way to fix this is to get the mods called idfix and idfixminus, they solve the conflicts for you
