So for the last few days I have been trying to get mods to work on my laptop. Minecraft does load with the mods however I get lots of lag spikes and it can be hard to play the game (its just about bearable). I then found out that the optifine mod can improve performance so I followed lots of install instructions however I have encountered a problem.
I am using version 1.7.10 with forge version 10.13.2.1291. The problem I have encountered is that even though I put the optifine file in the mod folder, it does not load up in game (iow it does not show up in the active mods section of the main menu and does not activate). I am using OptiFine_1.7.10_L_A4 (light version).
there are multiple core mod folders (railcraft, etc...) but im guessing I should put it in the one named 1.7.10, thanks for your help, ill give that a try.
