Are you using forge? Did you install a new program on your computer? Anything you might have done can be helpful.
No im not using forge and a month ago I got camtasia (the editor) but the problem started a week or 2 after. Only thing I can think of is that I let someone use my computer and got a virus but i cleaned my pc up so i don't really know.
the thinb is i freeze every 5-30 seconds for about 1-4 seconds with 768 but it doesnt really change no matter what i put it at.
EDIT: now that i think of it this all started once 1.8.3 came out (i have tried uninstalling minecraft and reinstalling it i have also tried deleting my . Minecraft to no prevail
1.8 is known to have performance issues, so it's possible that 1.8.3 worsened the issues. However, you made this post in the modded client section, so I just want to be sure: are you using any mods in your client? If you're using mods dated for previous versions, that may be causing issues.
In any case, I'd recommend downloading 1.8.3 Optifine, because that should help improve performance. Minecraft from 1.7 onward pretty much needs a mod to improve performance for it to not lag, but most performance mods other than Optifine are only available for 1.7.10. So Optifine is probably the only option, and since you aren't using forge, I imagine you don't have many mods that it could potentially conflict with.

I put this in the modded client section because I have optifine and so it wouldn't be vanilla
