Hello, I have recently had issues with the performance of both a modded client (FTB infinity) and the unmodded minecraft.
The issue: On FTB infinity I typically get 40-60 FPS, and that figure is now down to 0-3. This issue also affects my vanilla minecraft, bringing my FPS down to the same 0-3, or up to 12-20 FPS if I have the lowest settings possible. Also, FTB infinity takes much longer to load, from 3-5 minutes to a whopping 15 minutes.
Recent changes to my computer: I recently downloaded a file which may have been infected, just some adware. I am not sure if I had this problem before or after downloading the file, but I took some antivirus measures AFTER having the FPS issue. I downloaded Anvi Smart Defender because malware bytes did not detect anything.
My attempts at fixing the FPS issue: The issue stopped and my FPS returned to normal for a day or two, and this was after uninstalling old versions of java and installing the most recent update. JRE 8 update 40 (64-bit).
Since then, here are the following things I have tried (in no particular order):
Uninstalling and reinstalling Java 8 update 40, with restarts in between and scanning left over files with IObit Uninstaller.
Renaming my infinity folder so that a fresh modpack is downloaded.
Deleting .minecraft (and everything that had the .[name] to ensure everything minecraft related was gone.)
Uninstalling Java 8 update 40 and installing Java 7 update 75.
A few java arguments.
Changing my allocated RAM. (From 7 GB down to 4.5 GB down to 2.5 GB down to 2 GB)
Restarting my computer 1000+ times.
Updated all of my drivers Edit: Reinstalled my GPU driver, Minecraft, java, and anything I could think of all at the same time.
Additional info: I do not use any resource packs, texture packs, or shaders. I actively play FTB infinity, and not vanilla at all; I only logged into vanilla several times to check if the issue was affecting it also. I use optifine regularly and FTB infinity has FastCraft installed. I am sad.
Computer specs:
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
8 GB RAM
1TB Hard Drive
AMD FX(tm)- 8150 Eight-core processor 3.60 GHz
Windows 7 64-bit (running 64-bit java)
My computer is a desktop.
Thank you for the response! I have already tried that though. BUT I JUST FIXED IT!
I ran several system maintenance softwares from iObit (Smart Defrag, Malware Fighter, and Advanced System Care). And I also dreamed about my FPS being normal! One of the above fixed my computer.
