I just downloaded the client and installed it. I didn't add anything, modify anything, or touch anything except to run the launcher. Once I load a single-player world, the game shortly stops responding, and the java run-time basically pegs a core. It never actually crashes, so I don't have a report. All I can do is kill the java process and try again.
I have the latest drivers for my graphics card and all that rot. I don't see any reason why this thing should fail so miserably right after a fresh installation. I tried uninstalling it, restarting, and reinstalling it in case a download went off somehow, and that had no effect.
Edit: OK, if I kill the task instead of the process like a patient person, the logger gives me this:
[01:42:22] [Server thread/INFO]: WilyBird[local:E:9d675059] logged in with entity id 458 at (-155.5, 68.0, 256.5)
[01:42:22] [Server thread/INFO]: WilyBird joined the game
[01:42:24] [Thread-6/ERROR]: Error in class 'CodecJOrbis'
[01:42:24] [Thread-6/ERROR]: Ogg header not recognized in method 'readHeader'.
[01:42:24] [Thread-6/ERROR]: Error in class 'CodecJOrbis'
[01:42:24] [Thread-6/ERROR]: Error reading the header
It sounds as though maybe some of the audio files didn't download properly. Anybody know if those are in the MSI or if the client downloads them the first time it's launched?
