Yes, I downloaded the installer from minecraft.net. The error message is vague as it give no insight as to what the issue might be. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

So I haven't been able to find a resolution to this issue by searching elsewhere online. I attempted to copy the \AppData\Roaming\.minecraft folder from another machine where the install was successful, but the issue persists (even though the files are now "downloaded").
Having a simalier problem on my daughters computer her computer crashed and she lost everything and now can't download minecraft back on to her system. keeps saying (unable to start the minecraft runtime environment. This is most likely cause by a corruption. Please try to re-install minecraft) and I can't seem to get past that message to even re-install.

I've downloaded the Minecraft installer for Windows, but when I run it the following error message results:
"Unable to download Minecraft. Please try again later."
I've tried the following, but to no avail:
* disabling the firewall
* running the installer as administrator
* updating to the latest Java version
Any other suggestions? My daughter absolutely loves Minecraft and I'd love go get it working on the desktop for her. Thanks!
Did you download it from minecraft.net?
