It's not like I raged about it not working.... it was as simple as, hey this didn't work for me, but this did. Here is another solution to a similar problem to try... that's all. Just relax man... I'm sure your solution works for millions of people the world over, you can bask in your glory over that.

A JSON file is corrupted. Try deleting %appdata%/.minecraft/usercache.json
I had to run the launcher as administrator to get it to work. The above didn't work for me.
Did you have a JSON error? Probably not.

take 2 aspirin. Fixed my problem.
