My son was playing Minecraft on a laptop plugged into a power outlet, and without the battery. With Minecraft still open, he closed the laptop so he could insert the battery underneath. This logged him out of Windows and closed Minecraft. He is using the 1.6.11 client with Minecraft version 1.7.10. He cannot load the world he was in (it does not show in the list). I tried to follow the steps outlined here , but got stuck because Minecraft also crashes creating a new world. I have submitted the log to Mojang, but the key part of the error message is this:
com.google.gson.JsonSyntaxException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Expected BEGIN_ARRAY but was STRING at line 1 column 1
Here is what I have tried:
Deleting the versions\1.7.10 folder and having Minecraft recreate it
Deleting the assets\indexes\1.7.10.json file and having Minecraft recreate it
Deleting minecraft.exe and redownloading it from the web site
Searching Google for an answer, finding none I could understand
Switching to a 1.8.3 profile, but that still crashed just opening the program, before it gets to the "Single Player", "Multiplayer", screen
Do you readers have any other suggestions?
