I cant for the life of me get minecraft to run on my nvidia graphics card. ive been trying for months. nothing works. ive tried everything i can find. but absolutely nothing works? Any ideas on why Minecraft will not run on my nvidia card? I want to play the game again. It worked completely fine when it was on 1.7.10 then when they put out the new luancher with its own version of java it screwed everything up. And i cannot get minecraft to run on any version on the nvidia card. only on my intgrated graphics. I want to play vanilla and FTB minecraft and i just cant. at all. lags way to much on Intel intergrated.
There is no way to fix this right now but to downgrade Java. This is because Minecraft is poorly coded and is considered a "background" program. Therefore, it does not think to use the NVidia, since it is not a main priority.
Use the Nvidia control panel to assign everything Minecraft related to the nvidia card, this includes the java binaries that MC installed.
(Look at the path to Java in the launcher profile).
That I fact does not work all the time, most of the time this is not fixable unless you downgrade Java. I know this from experience. Due to the fact I have same problem. I have already tried what you said to do, did not work for me. Downgrading Java is a sure fix, due to the fact that this bug was not occurring in Java 6 and 7.

Does it crash?, if it does, post a crash report here (using paste.ubuntu.com or spoilers)

Actually the bug first occurs in Java JDK 8u25. He needs to downgrade to at least 8u11.
