My son and I would like to do multiplayer Minecraft (1.8.3) while we're riding the train cross-country next week. I can set up a local LAN just fine, using my machine as the game host via Open to LAN. Both machines can see each other just fine, but when my son attempts to connect to my multiplayer, all he gets is "Failed to login: the authentication servers are current down for maintenance."
Clearly, Minecraft is barfing because it doesn't have an internet connection. Is there a way around this? Is it possible to do LAN-based multiplayer when that LAN itself doesn't have an Internet connection?
