Just lost my long-term survival save data after forcing a restart so it didn't save.
Accidentally cleared my entire inventory, so I forced a computer restart so the game wouldn't save (is there any other easier way to quit without saving?), and when I got back to check my world, the world in question was not showing up on the list. Checked I was on the correct profile, checked my computer files and recycle bin. The world seems to be gone forever, but all my other worlds are there. Distraught, sadness... depression...............
There is no way to quit without saving. It's saving all the time as you go.
By doing what you did your save has become corrupted.
At least the file level.dat is corrupted (why it won't show up), perhaps others.
Make a backup of your world before you start attempting to recover it.
Restore level.dat from a backup if you have one, or if not consider using level.dat_old
