Edit your profile and go down to where you see the arrow on the picture above. Your will must likely say -Xmx1G then the rest of the text. Change that to 2G -4G and you should be good to go. Amplified worlds take more ram tio load everything. Hope this helps ya
That's because the common advice to allocate more RAM is nonsense; even when I played with a mod that tripled the average ground level - 192 or more layers deep in every single chunk (Amplified probably doesn't even average twice the normal depth), I had no problems at all playing it even on a 32 bit computer with 1 GB allocated; in fact, performance wasn't even much different; I find that a default world in 1.8 is much laggier than an Amplified world in 1.7.
In fact, consider that you do need to allocate 2 GB to be able to use 32 chunk render distance - but that loads four times as many chunks as 16 chunk render distance - that's 2 GB / 4 = 512 MB of RAM. Optifine even says this:
. Lauch Minecraft with less memory (yes, really). Usually it does not need more than 500 MB and runs fine on all settings with the default texture pack. By default java allocates way too much memory (1GB) which may get swapped to disk and the overall performance may suffer.
(though "all settings" should be updated to reflect the changes in 1.8, though the game doesn't even let you use higher render distances unless you allocate enough memory)
Also, just what render distance are you trying to use? Remember that doubling the render distance quadruples the number of chunks loaded; your problem sounds like server lag due to the server being overloaded from all the chunks it is trying to process.
In addition, there is a bug report concerning a problem similar to this: MC-64223 Terrain generation causes very slow chunk loading, including the description of "falling into the void" and extreme server lag; this appears to be a widespread issue ("community consensus") and pretty much reflects what i said about default 1.8 worlds being much laggier than Amplified 1.7 worlds.
I'd like to have the render distance at 32, simply because my computer should be able to do it without any issue.
And yes, when you mention it, the launcher did give out an error message saying something in the line of server overload somethingsomething.
I'm currently up at 16 i think, but i had to start at 2 and work my way up. If i try to press save and quit button, minecraft freezes and stops responding.
So the theres no real way to fix this other than wait?

I'm trying to run minecraft at my computer, my specs:
I7 3770k
16 gb ram
GTX680 4gb.
Win 8.1
I should have no problem running this game, but I'm trying to play on an amplified world, but i run in to a few problems.
Either the world wont load, its just blue and I'm falling (I checked the y cords, I am actually falling) or the game loads, but i cant do anything.
Breaking blocks will break them, but nothing drops.
If i turn the graphics all down, and the render distance to two, the game works perfectly. But I'd like to see the landscape as i play.
I have the lastest java, so that shouldnt be the problem either. I have tried to remove the .minecraft folder several times. Nothing helpes.
Thanks in advance!

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
