Not really sure why, but I'm currently using Forge 1.8.1 with only 1 mod installed, and when I load the game from the launcher, it closes and does not open the game itself. I'm a bit confused why this is happening, because I would've expected it the game to crash or for there to be some sort of error report. I'm using a version of Forge that I got off the correct website, and the mod I'm using is for 1.8. Am I doing something wrong?
I wouldn't trust Forge for 1.8.1 yet, seems like there are bound to be buggy.
Out of curiosity, what is this mod? We can't help if you don't tell us what this mod is.
And have you checked that Forge 1.8.1 works by itself?
EDIT: Found your problem. The mod is for 1.8, and cannot work with forge 1.8.1, unless specifically stated by the mod's author. Downgrade your Forge version.

As sev said, 1.8.1 forge is going to be unstable and will not function very well right now. I recommend sticking with 1.7.10 right now for two reasons; There are alot more mods for 1.7.10 and 1.8 has very few mods right now so I recommend you some good old 1.7.10.

Your right, there isn't a download for 1.8.1. And with 1.8.2 coming out there might not be one.
And MCF, stick to 1.7.10, its much more reliable ATM, less buggy, and there's more mods for it.
