I purchased minecraft today for my granddaughter to play on the computer. I don't understand any of this but this is what I get when I download and click play

Have you tried running the launcher as an administrator while launching the game? It sounds like a UAC error. If the same problem persists try pasting the log once more.

ModeratorFor now the computer you have can play 1.7.2 as explained here http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/references/intel-4-series-chipsets/
To change version click edit profile and select 1.7.2 from the dropdown menu in the 'Use Version' section
