I've had this problem before in 1.8 but at least then, allocating more ram (4GB of my 16GB to be exact) seemed to fix the problem. now minecraft just doesn't work at all. every world type aside from super flat wont load beyond spawning in the air with no ground below me and slowly floating down to the void where i would eventually stop and just sit there until the game either crashes or until i pause and hit "exit to menu" which normally results in a crash anyway.
on the rare occasions where the world actually DOES load, the game runs tremendously slow. the lag doesn't even seem like lag. its more like the game continuously freezing and unfreezing every half a second until i hit exit to the menu and wait for the the game to crash again. aside from that, sometimes chunks wont load and ill only have a small portion of land to explore.
if only the problems stopped there. i have been attempting to load a world for as long as i have been typing this thread so far (and I'm pretty slow at typing.) all I'm seeing right now is the " loading terrain" notification and the prompt that tells you to open your inventory by pressing E. the last issue is new. i haven't had that problem until just now..
im having all these issues in single player but for some reason they are completely absent when ever i join a server. no lag, no chunk loading problems and no crashing when i attempt exit to the main menu.
here's my most recent log ( its from the loading issue i mentioned above. the game crashed at the loading screen just after i finished typing the paragraph above this one)

it appears to be an issue with my render distance. its sad how poorly optimized minecraft 1.8 is. not even an i7 quad core can run maximum render distance in the default world type. loading amplified requiered me to set the render distance to 10 and i'd have to reload the world to see the difference. 15 seemed to work for a while until i started walking around, loading more chunks. then i'd get lag problems again. besides the "open to lan" button in the pause menu im not sure what you mean by "turn off the lan" if that's what you where talking about, then its not really part of the problem because it wasn't enabled in the first place. i have a pretty high end PC. i shouldn't be having these issues. what the heck is mojang doing over there? 3 patches since 1.8 and its still poorly optimized? didn't they get some new additions to their dev team once they joined microsoft and half of the existing team left?

UPDATE: still getting lag after setting render distance to 10 loading more chunks eventually slows the game down.. how much ram do i need to allocate to this game, 8 freakin gigs? no, that's probably not enough. how did this get past mojang when they where working on the patch? never in the history of my time playing minecraft has it been so poorly optimized and I've played it since 2011.
