I have the Technic Launcher, and I also have the Vanilla launcher. They run out of different folders. My Java version is 8u11. Windows 8 Pro. My step-son has the same setup.
When we play Attack of the B-Team using MC 1.6.4 (on multiple servers), we lose any items new to our inventories after some recent point in time (not sure, maybe a week, maybe two; by now anyway). Anything we do on the servers stays as-is, but our inventories are reset to what they were the previous time. This was really noticed when we finally got around to making "luggage", which we promptly loaded up with everything we created, and then lost it all save for a few axes and hammers. We probably would have noticed sooner, but we only really play on the weekend.
I wrote it off as a bug in B-Team, and we moved back to playing Vanilla. I have 1.8.1, with LiteLoader and OptiFine. He's got 1.8.3 since he's just running the "latest".
Here the problem is somewhat different (telling me it's possibly a completely different bug). Our inventories are exactly the same as they were at "some point" in the past. Our achievements are completely reset. In all honesty I'm not really sure as we haven't played Vanilla in a couple of months, so it's at some point "since then". Basically, when we join, we are always in the same location. Our inventories are always the same. We have no achievements.
I can throw all my stuff on the ground ("Taking Inventory"), run away, join the server, and then pick it all up to get doubles of it ("Taking Inventory"). I can jump in lava and die, burning all my stuff, respawning at my bed, and when I quit and rejoin I am back at the original spot, with the original inventory ("Taking Inventory"). I have tried this on multiple servers. This doesn't happen if we are running a local instance or sharing a WiFi multiplayer game. On my computer, I have tried rolling back to 1.8/1.8.1 "vanilla" with completely new profiles in my launcher. I also luckily have multiple public IPs, so I moved my laptop to my other IP address to see if that helped - nope.
This appears to be 100% a server-side issue. As one of the vanilla servers I play on is run by a friend, I was hoping that someone could provide any known workarounds, etc. for this issue so I can let him know. The server my friend is running, I believe is 1.8, running in Windows. It's possible he's upgraded it since I last played, but I doubt it. I have yet to speak to him about it as I am still investigating the issue and willing to accept that something could be happening client-side that's causing this to happen.
*Note*
I looked into this online/here in the forums and while I can find some "similar" things, nothing is quite the same. The achievements are cleared - all of them; not just the ones since I logged in - or at least, they were all reset and possibly now are resetting "per" time, which just happens to be back to nothing. The inventory is not "cleared"/emptied but simply "reset" to a previous state (man it sucked when I lost all the enchanted fishing rods I left myself 2 months ago to move to the fishing hole). The changes I make in game "stick", including placing items in chests. And I am not returned to the spawn/my spawn, but simply where I was standing when I logged off the server one day. Lastly, my inventory in my single player game has nothing to do with my inventory on these multiplayer servers (or each other's inventories, for that matter).
I didn't do a whole lot of research into the issue on the BTeam side as 1.6.4 is an old/unsupported version that's hacked just so Java 8 will work with it (I previously was running Java 7u51 [or was it 21] - perhaps that's part of the issue with it all?). I figured though that if Vanilla is doing it, it's a bug somewhere.

On the plus side, I have a chest full of diamond swords, pickaxes, and armor now on my friend's server, where I was doing the meat of my testing.

*Edit*
I had actually found an old post about it that someone had commented on recently...

I'll post back if this doesn't fix the issue once he's had a chance to clean up/reboot.
