Hi, all. I just downloaded the new Minecraft launcher (.msi) and installed i ton a new PC running Windows 8.1 for my son--he's a new Minecraft up-and-comer. I get to the "original" log-in screen, enter the e-mail addy and password, and it says, "Sorry, but we couldn't connect to the servers. Please make sure that you're online and Minecraft is not blocked."
I have searched this to the n'th degree but can't find a solution. I reset my password to make sure that wasn't an issue, I've logged in to my account with it at minecraft.net, I made sure the minecraft servers were up-and-running, I turned off my firewall and real-time protection with my antivirus software (eset), and so-on. The PC is online, and two other PC's in the same room are connecting and playing Minecraft just fine. I just can't get past that initial log-in.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Update:
I logged into my son's account on my PC (Windows 7) after installing the new 1.6.11 launcher on it. Thus--it must be something specific to the new PC. As I said, I disabled the firewall and antivirus, and I also deleted the .minecraft directory to let it rebuild... what else can I do?
