I'm a big fan of shaders in Minecraft. I have a question / concern regarding the GLSL shaders mod.
I have been using an Nvidia GTX 680 for the last ~2 years. It works amazingly with the shaders mod on every version of Minecraft I've used them on (most recently vanilla Minecraft 1.8 and FTB Infinity which uses Minecraft 1.7.10). I recently swapped out my GTX 680 for a Radeon R9 290X, and the shaders mod on Minecraft 1.8 look great and work great, but on FTB Infinity (Minecraft 1.7.10) I get a terrible framerate (less than 2 frames per second) - completely un-playable. If I remove the shaders mod, the framerate on FTB Infinity goes up to 40-60 frames per second.
I doubt the issue is FTB Infinity, because my Nvidia GTX 680 works great using shaders in FTB Infinity. Also, shaders definitely work on a Radeon R9 290X, cause they look amazing in Minecraft 1.8.
Is it possible that the shaders mod isn't recognizing the Radeon R9 290X and somehow my CPU is being used instead of my GPU in this case?
I am currently using catalyst 14.12 - I tried rolling back to 14.4, and actually got my framerate up to 4 frames per second, but that's still pretty bad.
I am a software developer by day, though I've never worked on a Minecraft mod. I've written a lot in Java for school / work, so maybe I could fix the issue myself, but I'd need the source code first (and instructions on how to build the mod, I guess?).
Thoughts / suggestions? Any help figuring this out would be greatly appreciated!

having the same problem!!!
did you try using a diffrent operating system?
CPU: AMD R3 1200 3.7Ghz 1.3125V, Mobo: MSI B350M Gaming Pro, RAM: 1x8GB Corsair DDR4-2400 (2666Mhz OC) C14, SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 250GB, HDD: 1x WD Black 1TB, 1x WD Blue 1TB, Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 580, Optical Drive: TSSTCorp CDDVDW TS-H653Q, Power Supply: EVGA SuperNova 750G3, Monitor: BenQ GW2765HT + LG Flatron W1942TQ
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Mk2 RGB Cherry RGB Blue, Mouse: Redragon Griffin
CPU or something else is probably bottlenecking your system. Specs?
Also, I'd try different shader packs and see if you get the same results.
Edit: Great, I contributed to a necro
