Can't run shaders on new laptop

I just purchased a new Lenovo laptop that runs i7 2.0ghz quad processor, Nvidia geforce 840M, 8mb ram 64bit

I want to be able to play with shaders but as soon as I load them my frame rate drops to like 14fps from anywhere between 60 - 100 fps

I have updated the drivers, mae sure I have 64bit Java and allocated 6gb to minecraft.

Help!

If your still checking this you should know that shaders are very power intensive, even more than high res texture packs. Your specs are not high enough for the majority of shaders. If you still want to try them try Paolo's Laggless Shaders http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1293554-paolos-lagless-shaders-supports-low-end-videocards they run on most hardware but you still may have trouble with it.
