For some reason after downloading the newest minecraft launcher (1.6.11), I have been getting these weird, see-thru grid patterns in game whenever I am using my dedicated nvidia gpu. Whenever I switch to my integrated intel graphics, the grids disappear, but my frame rate is horrid. Ive been playing for nearly 2 years with no problems at all with my current set up. I have tried switching texture packs, tinkering around with the nvidia controll panel, and messing with video settings in game. below are screen caps of whats happening.
This is an AA/AF problem. If your GPU was automatically setting options based upon identifying MC it may be that it doesn't know that the new MC is still MC. Or if you had set specific options for MC, they may no longer be in effect for the same reason (the new MC is not the same program as the old MC).
You mean anti-aliasing, and anisotropic filtering right? Under program settings for minecraft in the nvidia control panel, its showing that AF is at 8x, and AA is set to 4x with AA transperency off, and AA gamma correction on. Is there anything i should change these to?
That's what I'm talking about yes, but I'm not sure what they "should" be set to. I'm just saying that when the version of MC changes it's possible for the settings to end up changed as well. The new version might be not recognized as being "minecraft" anymore.

I applied the "use the advanced settings 3d settings" in the nvidia control panel. I also had to change the global settings to "let the application decide". It looks a lot better but Im still getting a slight grid effect when compared to just using the intel graphics, but at least its bearable now.
Here is how it looks now with nvidia, you can compare with the intel capture i took in the first post. I think i might tinker with some more settings and try to find which setting causes the grids.
EDIT: The slight "grid pattern" turned out to just be minecraft's default textures. I guess I am so used using either soartex, or sphax that I forgot how terrible it looks without them.
You could say that this meme stopped being funny over 9000 years ago
