Whenever I try and connect to my brothers LAN world, it shows up in the multiplayer menu as a LAN world, but when I try to join, it doesn't say "logging in" or whatever it says when you can join, but, instead, shows this: "Failed to connect to the server. java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information:"

Never mind, you'd know if you had it. You don't have any AV/firewall software integrated software on your computer right? Basically the error you got is that third party something is not letting you establish the connection. So router, firewall, av/firewall security solutions of some kind etc. are what you're looking at. Also whoever is hosting the server has to do the same on their firewall in order to permit the connection.
Er. Well while I"m not a fan of norton, I'm not sure completely uninstalling it is a good thing. Can he not suspend it temporarily, the way you did with avast?
