Funny, my first legally purchased game and I couldn't play it. Here it goes...
Launcher loads, title screen appears, single-user creative mode, create new world, "Creating world", "Building terrain"...stuck there a few minutes and then back to the launcher with this crash report:

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Something on your computer (antivirus/firewall or malware) is most likely behind this. Minecraft is unable to open a loopback socket for its two main threads to talk together.
Turned out it was the antivirus after all. I had to uninstall it to get things going. So now it's Minecraft without antivirus, or Minecrash with one. Guess I'll have to live with that. Thanks.
