Hey all, I have been playing modded and non modded minecraft for many years.
I have always had an issue with my FPS being lower than i thought it should be. I always thought that it was due to my Graphics card, an ATI HIS IceQ6850HD.
I recently (Yesterday) Replaced this with a very nice Gainwood Phantom GTX970.
This hasn't had the effect i was hoping for. I have had an FPS boost, but not what I was expecting.
So below are the Specs of my computer. I always play at 1920x1080 fullscreen and have tried both Java 1.7.x and 1.8.x Doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I also have tried Fast Craft, Optifine, which make some difference but again, not much.
Go to your graphics settings panel and either under power or application settings, switch both java and minecraft to use your high performance gpu rather than intel integrated graphics

I don't have Intel Integrated graphics on my system.
Everything is already set to use the GTX970 as it is the only Graphics Processor in the system.
Must be first gen i7 then. Did you try playing with the video settings? Did you try going to 1.8 and playing with settings there? Is there any difference?

Yeah its a i7 950. I got a small improvement using the latest FastCraft with the modsauce pack.
I also found my RAM was running 599MHz, which I didn't understand. So I've clocked that back to 800Mhz, which has made a good change. I am thinking that my CPU and RAM are just not up to the task that I am expecting of them. May be time for an upgrade...Oh how sad
