Hey guys, sorry if this isn't the right section but I couldn't find a more relevant section to post this.
Basically, I downloaded the minecraft.jar put it in /usr/share/minecraft, downloaded an icon, created a .desktop file and now using that I am able to place minecraft on my desktop, on the unity launcher, access from the dash, wherever I like really.
The problem is, the minecraft launcher shows an icon on the "taskbar" while it's running, but once I click "play" and the actual game client starts up, it just shows a box with a question mark inside it for the icon. I know it's nothing major but it bothers me more than it should. Is there a fix for this by any chance? I noticed when looking inside the minecraft.jar file that there is an icon file in there, so I don't know why it isn't displaying that.
I'm going to have to go with a 'no' here. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and besides the occasional chopped up crafting table icon Minecraft tends to like to stay as a question box. I've even tried creating a .desktop file and running that in the launcher, but Minecraft renames the window and kicks out the icon I've picked. You could try bypassing the launcher and running it from the terminal directly, but as you can imagine that's pretty difficult. You could install a different window manager, as sometimes that fixes things. I only have Unity though, so I can't verify this option.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to be more specific.
Thank you for your time.
