I recently attempted to upgrade my old Windows XP computer to Windows 10 Technical Preview just for fun, when it came out a success. Every program I throw at it runs fine, but now Minecraft hits a roadblock. Before when running Windows XP, Minecraft ran just fine, but now in Windows 10 it ceases to function.



Does this have anything to do with now using the installer over the classic Minecraft launcher before?



Anyhow, further research indicates that there is some error called "Pixel Format Not Accelerated" preventing me from running Minecraft, whatever that means. I followed the instructions to create a DxDiag report here. The pasted information is here:

Updating drivers won't work in most cases. Windows 10 newest build broke a TON of things, including support for many graphics cards. My own Radeon HD 8400M 4GB vRAM card won't even work anymore. Downloaded the latest driver and installed it, relogged to this message: "No graphics driver installed."



Windows 10 has disabled my graphics card for some unknown reason. All I can say to you is pray for a fix. In my case, I've ordered a recovery CD for my laptop, to go back to Windows 8.

any computer that came with Win XP probably won't have hardware new enough to still have support under Windows 10 anyway.

Look how many GPUs lost support between Win 8 and Win 8.1
