Maybe I screwed up in the directions doing it, but here's what I did:
1. I migrated my Minecraft account to a Mojang account.
2. I set up my new Minecraft information to a new email address.
3. I then stated I would like to change my username from "lolcreeper200" to "LeftCreepo" (+10 bonus points if you get the reference)
4. After that, I clicked the download Minecraft for Windows, which apparently set up a new setup wizard for the launcher. I let it launch and...
The problem is, my name still says, "Welcome, lolcreeper200! Ready to play Minecraft 1.8.1?" in the launcher. I'm not sure why the name change didn't work. If someone could help out, that would be great.
Also, another issue I'm having is that whenever I try to connect to a server, it says "Failed to connect: server not authenticated by minecraft.net." If anyone else has had these sorts of problems, could you help me figure out what to do? Thanks; I would appreciate that very much. EDIT: Never mind, situation resolved.

Then you log into Mojang.com using your email and password
You click "Account"
Then you click "change" which is next to your name
You change the name
And then I believe (Correct me if I'm wrong) that there is a save changes option you click
then you just restart your game (DONT REDOWNLOAD IT!!) and log in using your email and password

I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
