Open terminal and type in:
nslookup sessionserver.mojang.com
Do you get an IP back?
If yes, then I suggest downloading and installing latest java.
Then go Applications->Minecraft->right click and select Show Package Contents->Contents->Resources->Java->right click Bootstrap.jar and select Make Alias. Drag Alias to desktop. Double click on it to start MC instead of your usual way.
Can you connect?
please help me figure it out, i am now locked out of minecraft completely until i get it figured out
now that i think about it i had this problem in the past, and it took me several months to accidentally fix it

Er...it could be issue with your ISP I suppose, if you cannot reach minecraft.net at all.
If you open a terminal window and type in traceroute minecraft.net
what does it look like? You can screenshot or if it's too long, copy paste here.

That looks fine so you should be able to connect. If you're not able to load it up in your browser, you sure you don't have something in terms of addons or settings preventing you?
Also, were you able to do a java update and start it via alias?
Is it a macbook as in if you take it to work, you can connect with it just fine? Or is it that if you connect from another computer but with your login info, you're ok.
i tried again just now and it is giving me a different error, Certificate exception: no subject alternative DNS name matching authserver.mojang.com is found
Then, the only thing I can think of is that maybe your IP is blacklisted somehow with mojang? That sounds paranoid but with you able to access the servers but somehow not connect, and only on that IP, and nothing to do with the machine, not sure what else to think. Try contacting them and explaining that you can connect with your computer from anywhere else but from home, and you have no trouble tracing a route to their servers from home either.
after a while it gives me this report
