Ok so this is a weird problem and I wondered if anyone knew what to do. I was about to go play on my singleplayer world when I found it missing. After checking several times I looked in my minecraft saves file and found it there. I took the world out and put it back in and it still would not appear. I checked to make sure all the nessasary files where there and I did nothing such as deleting it. Im afraid it might be corrupted (I have no idea how). I wondered if you guys had a solution. I have played on this world since the 1.0 release, It was working fine this morning and I have not updated (Im on 1.8.1).

Sounds a little like an defect level.dat.
First of all. Make a complete backup of u world. (Copy the world folder somewhere)
Than u can try to delete u level.dat and rename the file "level.dat_old" to "level.dat".
If this dosent work try to delete the "level.dat" again and rename the file "level.dat_mcr" to "level.dat".
If this dosent work pleas look her for more help: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/discussion/297844-official-corrupted-save-recovery-thread?page=90
