Bug with Optifine for 1.8.1

Ever since upgrading from 1.7.9 with optifine to 1.8.1 with optifine, I can no longer see the mob turn red that I hit. It just stays it's usual color. Anyone know why this is happening with 1.8.1 optifine? Thanks :).

for me, optifine 1.8 always crashes (even with forge)
