Computer Shuts Down When Playing Minecraft

When I play minecraft it works for about 30 minutes to an hour then the computer shuts down.

Specs:

Intel Core i5-650

8gb Ram

NVIDIA® GeForce® GT240M 1GB

2x 500gb hard drives

Any help would be highly appreciated and if you need any more info let me know

Is your computer overheating? That could be the problem.
