My kids have been playing Minecraft on this computer for years. Microsoft buys Minecraft and all of a sudden there is something wrong with my computer.
I walked through the steps to upgrade my graphics driver and it is up to date and getting the same error. Next steps is to put DxDiag results in a paste bin and create a post here.

Moderator1. downgrade windows to 8 or lower
2. install a newer graphics card (not possible on a laptop)
3. attempt the workaround here http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/unmodified-minecraft-client/1868881-windows-8-lack-of-updated-graphics-drivers-solved#c8
The workaround may not work and if you try it be it on your own head.
