launcher wont open

run the launcher and nothing happens at all, i even tried the old launcher and the new experimental that does not use java and nothing happens

make sure you have java installed http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

i do have java but the experimental does not need it and it did not run

so the launcher itself won't run at all?

the newer launcher still uses java for minecraft, but it installs it for you.

remove all versions of java and reboot, then install a fresh copy from the link i posted earlier

i get an error when trying the new java but it worked perfect a week ago and nothing updated
