So me and 2 other friends wanna play Minecraft together. I downloaded the server software from Mojang and Hamachi to host the server. Me and one friend (both PC users) can get in the server fine. When our third friend joins (on MAC OS X) he can see health/food/item bar but he sees dirt then blackness--he can't move or anything.

So he set up a server on HIS computer instead (which was a bit more complicated than Windows, btw) but I encountered the same problem he did when joining our server--a few seconds of loading then DIRT followed by blackness. All while I could still see health/food/item bars. On occasion I would "load in" -- but it would just show the horizon/weather and I would fall for several seconds before dying to nothingness.

Anyone encounter this before or know of a fix?

This doesn't sound like a problem with the server but rather your graphics card. The weird thing is that it only happens on one persons server. Are your VBOs on/off? Try switching it to on if they're off and vice versa. Also, setting up the server without Hamachi may help. You can read my guide for it here. Sorry, it's only for Windows.

Yeah, the game works fine on our own individual games--but for some reason he can't load in on our server and we can't load in on his. We'll have to check later if messing with the VBO setting fixes it but my gut is telling me it won't.
