I get the Connection Lost Timed Out error on any server I join including MCRealms servers. I have tried every usual fix from firewalls to ip, port forwarding, updating java and reinstalling minecraft. I am connected through LAN and my pingtest and speedtest are normal. I try log into a server on a different computer in my household that is on wifi and is able to connect and move around freely and not time out so I believe it must be something in my machine. This has only happened a few updates ago and is getting really frustrating as I am unable to join any servers. Any help would be appreciated.
lan = Local Area Network. You can have a lan connection without internet, and an internet connection without lan. Basically, having lan doesn't mean you have good internet (nor does it mean you have internet at all)

I have this exact same issue atm really struggling for a solution. Its not a network issue as i loaded the game up on my pro 3 and join games in multiplayer just fine on my home network with no issues. Installing the game on my desktop however on the same network. I join a multiplayer game and as soon as i hit an enemy or they hit me the game seems to stall, then 10s later Connection Lost, Timed Out error occurs. Its bloody frustrating, tried clean reinstall of minecraft, and java, updating drivers. No idea whats happening. Running out of ideas.
Update!!!! I rolled back to version 1.8 and it seems to stop the issue you should try that. In the meantime im still looking as to why enemys cause me to disconnect in 1.8.1 cause now I cant use my realm server :/
Update 2!!! Iv isolate the issue to being an issue with connection to the router via an Ethernet cable, connecting over wifi the game works, plug in via Ethernet connection the game doesn't. I proved this with a laptop I have. Connect Wifi on laptop game works, Connect Ethernet on laptop game DC's when monsters hit. Connected Ethernet on desktop, Game DC's when enemies hit. Connect with a usb wifi adapter on desktop..... GAME WORKS.... bandaid solution atm till I found out out what setting via the Ethernet cable connection is causing the instability
