Hi, this is my first post that I have made so correct me if I have done anything wrong. This is my issue:
I have been playing Minecraft for a year and recently wanted to get into mapping and modding. I read a few tutorials and downloaded some maps. I always followed the important rule of never messing with the .minecraft folder unless Minecraft itself was quit. Unfortunately, I was downloading another map and then realised that I hadn't quit Minecraft. I opened it up and sure enough it came up with a error message. I cant remember exactly what it said but it was something like 'Minecraft can't access saved files right now'. I quit and reopened Minecraft and the error message was gone but so was all of my worlds! I checked my saves file and my world's data were there but they weren't in the actual app. I looked this up and saw that this was called 'corrupt saved world data' I looked up how to recover my stuff and I saw that I just had to swap data with a new world. So I made a new world, quit Minecraft and went into the saves folder going to swap my data from my new world but its not appearing there. Its still in my Minecraft list of worlds but not in my saves folder! How can I get my world in my saves folder so I can swap data to recover my 'corrupted saved world data'.
PLEASE HELP!!! I have some friends coming over tomorrow night and I was hoping I could show them my Minecraft worlds, so I need to fix this problem ASAP!!!

No need for anymore ideas, I fixed it. I realised that it wasn't that my files were corrupted it was simply that I moved my Minecraft folder to the desktop for easy access therefore the app was still looking for it in application support so I moved it back and all of my worlds appeared. Thankyou to everybody who attempted to fix this problem.

Sorry, I tried that but as I said before, I'm on a MacBook and MCEdit only supports windows as far as I know.
