hello, i recently had my hard drive go bad so i bought a new one. after re installing windows (XP) and i have visited several forums and countless vids. no matter what i do when i dubble click my minecraft the loading hr. glass shows up for one sec. and goes away i have tryed several times to re install java and i got nothing. i would aprisheate some help pls.
Go to your Windows menu (bottom-left corner) and select Run. In run type %APPDATA% and click 'OK' look for a folder called .minecraft and in the .minecraft there should be a file named hs_err with numbers at the end of the title. If there is post that, if there isn't let me know.
actuily i was looking through my programs and i see 2 diverent windows service pack 2 and if i try to un install either of them it says it could affect programs installed. could that be the problem
I'm not 100% sure if deleting one of the Windows versions would help, but it may be the problem. Try this, right click on the Minecraft Launcher click 'Run as...' then click Adminisrator. Wait, I know another thing that could be the problem. You said Windows XP Service Pack 2, right? I'm pretty sure Minecraft can only run on Windows XP SP3 or higher, but I may be wrong I just checked the Minecraft system requirements, it contains nothing about the Operating system. But, I do remember it saying something about Windows XP SP3 before. Just try what I said earlier and see if that works.
