Hi, i really want a resource pack and they are really cool so i decided to get on. I downloaded a big name resource pack (like Modern HD, and such) and i open up my minecraft resource pack file and drag and drop the files in. They copy and i can see them in the resource pack file. (i didn't unzip it) But, when i go to Minecraft to pick my resource pack NOTHING shows up, it just has the default texture... i did the same with a few resource packs but it still won't show up! Please help ):
Hmm. Does the RP pack have any special instructions written for install? Usually the author thread will describe this in the first post.
Also is there a version for whatever version of MC you're using? For example this is the only modern HD pack I can find: http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/modern-hd-pack-64x-ctm-better-skies/
Is the RP version matching the game version?
I wasn't sure, so i downloaded it again (first link) and then dragged them over and such , then i closed minecraft, then opened it again and it still isn't there, nothing popped up
It might help if you go into your MC launcher, hit Edit Profile, change to Keep launcher open at all times. Hit save profile. Run minecraft once, then go back to the launcher and copy paste contents of launcher log and game output here.
Tried it out just to see if it's an issue with mac. It works fine for me. I created a new profile with just forge and another mod. The file path for it looks like this:
/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/minecraft/Forge1.8/resourcepacks/Modern HD 1.8.zip
The extra folder (Forge1.8 in this case) is something I add for each profile so you won't have it but don't worry about it if you have the rest. It loads ok and should look like so:
If you then mouse over the modernHD pack icon, it'll give you an arrow. Click on it and it'll move it into the Selected Resource Pack column. Then hit Done and that should do it.
Er...I gave you the link where to download it from. And then I gave you the file path where it should go (minus the one extra folder I put in there myself). I'm not sure what you're asking?
Also, did you try getting the launcher log and game output?

You mean you open your minecraft resource pack folder and you dump the downloaded RP file into it?

If yes, try just shutting down MC and the launcher, and restarting.
