Minecraft hasn't been making any sound recently for me, and so i when i was looking around trying to fix it i came across these errors

Couldn't download http://resources.download.minecraft.net/65/65bd63eb0e8056707f7f16f1a272187d3d32de15 for job 'Resources'
java.net.SocketException: Address family not supported by protocol family: connect

I assume I'm not supposed to be getting warnings telling me things can't be downloaded. There are multiple more just like this one and I can't figure out how to fix it. there are a large amount of them and so I don't want to go throw and follow each link in order to download it, and even if I did, I have no idea where to put these downloaded files.

Someone please help

Sorry but i don't have "Relevant Knowledge" on my computer. and the batch file seemed to have an error stating

Error: Invalid or corrupt jarfile minecraft.exe

so neither solution seemed to work :/

The launcher has changed since then, it may no longer be a thin exe wrapper around a jar file. It's hard to tell since there is yet another new launcher now.

So will this eventually be fixed as launchers update? or as java updates? And if not can you think of any new fixes that might work?

You could download the jar launcher, and try the batch file with that. It's available from the download page under all platforms as "Linux / Other"

Oddly enough, downloading the Linux/other jar file worked but not in the way that i think you expected. I believe the different launcher somehow allowed me to download the correct files. I ran the jar file and it downloaded correctly, sound was working, but worlds wouldn't load. So i figured the sound files must already be in the .minecraft folder and the launcher shouldn't change much. So i swapped to the old launcher, and ran it, sounds worked, and worlds loaded. So problem is now solved! YAY !!!
