Every time I try to run the Minecraft Launcher, it shows a little box and says "downloading the native launcher", and downloads a 1 meg file. It finishes that, and tries again, then it tries a third time, then it says "unable to update the native launcher";
In the directory, I noticed a log called nativelog.txt, the contents of that file look like this;
Thinking that this might be an issue with various things, I decided to download a new copy of the launcher from the MC Website (and directly from the link in that log above), however, it does exactly the same thing. Also tried running as an administrator, changing the folder, running from a different drive, etc. Nada.

I didn't recognize the amazonaws URL at the time, so I was relatively careful. It came up spotless.
But, Pry0303, the SHA of your scan matches with the SHA of webrosc's, and a second mod has chimed in and confirmed the link. Given this, you most likely ended up with a false positive and nothing more.

This is a heuristic based false positive. An executable that downloads another program! Must be a trojan! ..... or a game installer / updater / launcher program....

Retired StaffIn any case please use the alternative launcher
https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/launcher/Minecraft.exe
That alternative launcher does work, thanks :D. I was just about to boot up my disassembler and bork the hash test lol.

ModeratorThat link is Mojangs OFFICIAL link, so if you are getting a virustotal resutlt after downloading that file i suggest you check your computer as something else maybe infecting the file
