This problem is probably caused by your laptop being too old to handle the new updates. It could be from your graphics card not being well enough to run the game. I have had the same problem on my old 2007 laptop, and I couldn't run the game around the same version as you. If you load the game in 1.7.2 and it pops up with a message saying, "Old graphics card detected: this may prevent you from playing in the far future as OpenGL 2.1 will be required," then you know for sure that you have a bad graphics card. They say 'far future' but they upgraded to OpenGL 2.1 way earlier than anyone expected. So the only way to play newer versions are to upgrade your graphics card, which can go from about $200-$600, get a new computer with a better graphics card, or be forced to play in the older versions of the game. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the information. Im getting a Kaser - Desktop - AllWinner A20 - 1GB Memory - 8GB Flash Memory - Black soon do you know if that has the capability to play past 1.7.2
Hmm... by the looks of it, I'm not very sure about that. It does have a 1GB memory and 1GB of RAM, so it may be hard to have many games run on it at all. By the looks of it, I think that you don't want to spend a lot on a computer, or don't have enough to buy one. It's very hard to find computers for a cheap cost. I know that from experience. I would just say although it sounds terrible, if you can't afford a good computer now, save up for one. It is a long process, but the computer will be much better than one under $100. They can be good for just going on the internet or something as simple as that. It Sorry to break the bad news!

You also did not give any information about your new computer that would signify how it will run, please provide full specifications.
